Good morning from us here at Grand Cru! Today is the last day we have to endure until it is finally the weekend, so to celebrate we have yet another fantastic wine of the day to wet your whistle with.

Wine of the Day - Chateau de Sours, Bordeaux Rosé
With a gentle bouquet of fresh and simple grapefruit and raspberry, this one will sit in your memory for years to come. Flavours of strawberries and bubblegum grace the palate from the first sip but don't mistake this for a sweet one, it's still beautifully dry and crisp. Come and grab a bottle, we assure you that disappointment will never come, especially when it's only £9.50 a bottle!

After a Facebook malfunction yesterday we have two wines of the day, both of the utmost quality! So without further ado....

Wine of the Day number 1 - Esk Valley Riesling 2013

This hand crafted wine is from Marlborough in New Zealand. The Esk Valley estate shies away from over mechanisation and relies upon the more traditional 'old fashioned' methods of wine production. They have created a Riesling using grapes from hotter slops for tropical fruitiness and cooler slopes for crispness and acidity. This combination has produced something really special - perfectly rounded, soft yet refreshing, this wine will taste fabulous with food with a bit of spicy heat. We have some open so come and try it, it's just £11.95 for a little piece of heaven!

Wine of the Day number 2 - San Jacopo da Vicchiomaggio Chianti Classico

Made with 100% Sangiovese grapes, this wine has been crafted by John Mata's team in Tuscany. John has been awarded Italian Winemaker of the Year no less than four times so this wine is a beauty! An elegant and refined red, it's smooth with soft tannins and an oaky fullness. Try it with spaghetti bolognese, put on some opera, close your eyes and for £8.75 you will be transported to the beautiful Tuscan countryside....

This fantastic estate from Gavi in North West Italy has delivered an exceptionally fine wine - in our tasting notes we have written "utterly awesome"! Buy here!

The Gavi di Gavi DOCG is situated in the southern part of Piedmont, in the north-western part of Italy. The name is derived from the town of Gavi, which is at the centre of the production zone, and the indigenous white grape variety from which it is made. The Cortese grape from which Gavi is made is quite high in acidity but the steely structure of this wine balances the crisp acidity. The DOCG area is quite a small area of land around the town of Gavi with limestone dominant soils, the grapes are selected manually and the wine spends more time on its yeast; all this means that the wine is more structured, has more body and displays more minerality than "standard" Gavi DOC.

Very pale in colour, this Gavi di Gavi is really citrusy on the nose - lemons and limes - with a hint of quince.  On the palate the citrus theme is accompanied by a touch of pineapple.  This medium-bodied wine has a lime finish which is very long and dry. This is a really lovely example of a Gavi di Gavi, elegant in structure, and very versatile in terms of foods with which to serve it. How about trying it with some seafood? As they say in Italy, Bellissimo!
