This week at a Grand Cru Co is Rhone varietal week. We are going to focus on some great examples of the typical grape varietals and blends found in this region of Southern France. We will look at how these varietals have flourished in other parts of France and the world. For reds we have Syrah (also known as Shiraz), Grenache and Mourvèdre and for whites Rousanne, Viognier and Marsanne.

2013 was a great vintage for the Northern Rhone and this is a fine example of a Syrah from the region. Aged in oak barrels for at least 12 months, this wine has a dense richness with black fruit flavours. Works brilliantly with red meat.
