As its English wine week we really do have to show off this! We've had it for a little while now but it's just fantastic to say the least. Let's find out a little more.

Hush Heath Estate, situated in Kent, dates back to 1503. At the heart of the property is a Tudor manor surrounded by 162 hectares of perfectly manicured gardens, vineyards and apple orchards. Forward thinking Richard Balfour-Lynn first planted vineyards on the property in 2002, with the aim of making England's finest sparkling Rosé, Balfour Brut. Today, Hush Heath's 15 hectares of vineyards and 8 hectares of apple trees are meticulously and sustainably managed by a family of viticulturists.

They recently launched a non-vintage, Leslie’s Reserve, and the Hush Heath range comprises of still wines, Skye's English Chardonnay, Manor Pinot Noir and Nanette's English Rosé. Their orchards also produce Jake's Kentish cider and, a unique new product, a Sparkling English Apple Wine. These are all made from estate grown fruit by winemakers Owen Elias and Victoria Ash. Owen Elias, both winemaker and cider maker, is a four-time winemaker of the year by the UK Vineyards Association and has nearly 20 years experience making English wines.

Brilliant white gold in the glass with a clean nose of citrus, thyme and pineapple. A lively acidity is balanced by rich, ripe grapefruit, citrus and apple flavours. It is a wine with great length, finishing with saline, herbal notes typical of the Hush Heath style.

Another one from Kleine Zalze. This time we have a firm favourite with Shiraz! Come and find out more about these guys and their amazing story.

When esteemed businessman and attorney Kobus Basson banded together with his brother-in-law in 1996 to purchase the century-old Stellenbosch wine farm now known as Kleine Zalze, he viewed the move mainly as a potentially profitable side business venture.

A change of heart and direction, though, soon had the co-owner committing himself fully to nurturing the land’s potential for top-quality produce. Determined to master the trade and to build his knowledge of the industry, he set off across international waters to study the market and to learn from the many regions and estates well-known for making word-class wine.

But what Kobus returned with was far more than mere know-how in viticulture and vinification; having noted the move overseas to multi-faceted lifestyle estates – those that offer accommodation and fine dining alongside their vino – back on the home front, his new approach to the running of the family-owned farm was coloured by one key realisation: in an increasingly competitive environment, it’s not enough to just produce wines; rather, what’s needed is an all-round offering.

Kleine Zalze Vineyard Selection Shiraz 2014 @ £14.95 - Buy it here!
The wine shows the great density of flavour which is typical of our Shiraz. Initial aromas of ripe red fruits are followed by hints of spice. These flavours follow seamlessly on the palate with a bold, yet refined tannin profile that we believe gives the wine great ageing potential.

Just gorgeous. Not much more needs to be said! Cheers!

Morning wine lovers! A brand new one for us with this one. It was a bit of a surprise for us. Let's have a read about this incredible winery who we've loved for a while but not this particular wine!

Montes was established in 1988 by Aurelio Montes, Douglas Murray, Alfredo Vidaurre and Pedro Grand, with the aim to produce the best wines in Chile from the best regions. We have long admired Montes and what they have done for Chilean wine over the past three decades. Their wines are consistently good because they are meticulous throughout the entire production process. The Outer Limits wines were born out of Aurelio Montes' desire to push Chilean viticulture in a new direction. The 45 hectare Zapallar Vineyard in the Aconcagua Valley was Montes' first venture into the 'outer limits'. Due to the balance and concentration in the Outer Limits wines, they can be enjoyed now or allowed to age for a few years, rewarding with a wonderfully complex bouquet.

Montes "Outer Limits" Old Roots Cinsault 2017 @ £16.95 - Buy it here!
Bright and intense ruby red in colour with a distinct purple edge. The nose has aromas of fresh berries, forest fruits, sweet and sour cherries and blackberries that intermingle with wild blueberries. The well-balanced palate is fresh and light with tannins that subtly support the fruit expression for even greater complexity.

Doesn't that just sound perfect? Its rated as the second best wine from the entire region! And the first is also made by Montes. Cheers!

Always nice to introduce something English to you all! This one has been available from us for a little while now but it's time that everyone knew about this gem!

Piers Greenwood is a bit of a visionary, he planted his vineyard in Purleigh, Essex in 1969, which makes it one of the oldest in the UK. The vineyard benefits from a very special microclimate and Purleigh is one of the warmest and sunniest spots in the country. Today New Hall Vineyard has 40 hectares under vine and one of the largest plantings of Bacchus in the UK. Winemaker Piers has won the prestigious UK

Winemaker of the Year Award in 2013, 2015 and 2016 and his highly acclaimed and award-winning wines showcase English Wine at its best.

New Hall Bacchus Reserve 2018 @ £11.95 - Buy it here!
From the oldest plantation of Bacchus in England, this wine displays intense aromas of elderflower, apple and conference pear. Off dry on the palate, tropical fruit flavours of melon and pineapple prevail leading to an elegant, crisp finish.

Not a bad price for something with such elegance and beauty to it. Come and give it a go. Cheers!

New new new! Valpolicella Ripasso has always been such a popular style for us. In case you didn't know, they dump the skins used in the production of Amarone into the wine for a brief period to impart a reflection of what Amarone is all about upon itself. Let's find out more about this one.

Beginning with its founding, as far back as 1898, Cantina di Soave has followed a growth plan that has made it one of the leading and most prestigious wine producers on the Italian and international wine stage. Year after year, it has painstakingly assembled a priceless mosaic of production sites and vineyards that today embrace five valleys in the eastern Verona area and span three famous DOC denominations, Soave, Valpolicella, and Durello.

Thanks to its avant-garde system of quality selection, Cantina di Soave is able to differentiate winemaking levels and categories in order to answer the requirements of an increasingly demanding and complex marketplace, offering a broad portfolio of wines that range from those meant for everyday enjoyment to ambitious wines styled for the most discriminating restaurants, wine shops, and enotecas in Italy and abroad. Cantina di Soave currently exports about half of its production, to more than 50 countries.
