Back the cold and rain for a bit it would seem! But we have an absolute beauty to cheer you all up. Today we would like to put a spotlight on our amazing...

Fleur de Clinet, Pomerol 2010
This has a very ripe, somehow rather airy notes that seems to float along the ether. Mouth-coating tannins, very ripe and rounded, quite opulent with a touch of spice, dark vibrant black fruits interwoven with black plum and cassis, leading to a well-defined, peppery finish. Very fine.

Château CLINET is one of the most prestigious estates of the Pomerol wine region, set amongst the finest parcels of this well-known plateau.

Located 40km to the east of Bordeaux, on the right bank of the Garonne River, its gravelly clay soil makes Pomerol the terroir of the finest Merlots in the world. The natural resources required to produce the exceptional quality of our grapes, simply cannot be reproduced anywhere else on earth.

Esk Valley Gimblett Gravels Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec 2012

This is a full bodied and rich Hawkes Bay blend. Densely coloured, it has a bouquet of dark fruits and subtle oak seasoning while the palate is softly textured and generous in nature. Due to its well ripened tannins the wine can be enjoyed young , although it also shows the potential to age gracefully for many years gaining further complexity.

De Loach Russian River Valley Pinot Noir 2012

Revealing a beautiful bright ruby colour, the 2012 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir has a soft fruity approach. It pleases with aromas of red cherries, candied fruit and pecans. The taste builds with flavours of red liquorice and a touch of plum. Medium-bodied and silky, this wine has the perfect balance of structure and acidity.

Nicolas Perrin Viognier 2015

This Viognier has a lovely pale golden robe with bright undertones. Very aromatic on the nose, it offers wonderful notes of citrus fruit and white flowers. On the palate, the style of the wine is quite lean, tense and mineral as opposed to a more buttery and full bodied style of viognier. The finish is long and mouthwatering with fabulous flavours of apple and almond.

Situated in south-eastern France the Northern Cote du Rhone has a moderate to cool continental climate and is responsible for some of the best (if not the best!) world-wide produced Syrah. Here Syrah is at the very northern limit of where it can ripen successfully. This cooler climate results in wines that are leaner yet more complex than the Australian cousins.

They are typically characterized by sour black fruit and black olives flavours complemented by a peppery and earthy profile which evolves into complex meaty and leather aromas as they age. These wines are capable of very long term (in some cases - Hermitage, Cote-Rotie - even more than a Bordeaux) bottle aging.

With Cote-Rotie and Hermitage commanding top-prices, Saint Joseph represent an example of great value Northern Rhone Syrah made in a more fruity and consumer-friendly style.

Our Colombo & Fils Saint Joseph 2013 at £15.95 is made using traditional vinification techniques and oak barrels aging for a minimum period of 12 months. The result is a wine with an elegant and lively structure complemented by aromas and flavours of cassis, black olives tapenade lifted by peppery and clove notes.
