Pleasant and decorated with a fruity flavour coating the mouth. It is a characterful and lively wine that reflects its terroir, which will bring you back every time. A quality unbeatable for this price.

Andre Clouet Rosé Magnum NV £59.95 :

As ever with Andre Clouet, a generous and fine juice. Another Champagne from Clouet that reaches heights of structure and opulence yet remains focused and true to its name. Plenty of bold red fruit and very obviously a Pinot Noir. Yet all the pleasure points that make Champagne so special are woven throughout.

Pol Roger Magnum NV £74.95 :

A truly beautiful example of a champagne from a very famous name. On the nose, the champagne is dominated by aromas of white flowers, green apples, brioche and a trace of some kind of minerality or steeliness. Today we want to reveal you one of our best Pinot Noir magnum (1.5 L).

A Vielles Vignes Gevrey-Chambertin crafted by one of the most renowed family owned winery in all Burgundy.

Gevrey-Chambertin is the greatest designation in Côte de Nuits, a vineyard which stretches out from Dijon to Corgoloin, in the North of Beaune.

It almost exclusively produces red wines, all of them remarkable for their firmness, great elegance, bouquet, sumptuous color and long growth.

The Domaine Géantet Pansiot in Burgundy is currently run by Vincent Géantet, who is the third generation of vignerons in his family.

The vineyards are run according to lutte raisonée, with no herbicides, just one or two anti-disease chemical treatments.
The wines are matured in barrel for 15 months, with a couple of stirrings but no racking. 30% new wood is used on every cuvée, from Bourgogne Rouge to this Gevrey-Chambertin.

'A relatively expressive nose of wild red berries, blue berry liqueur and earth undertones that are also reflected by the bigger and notably more robust medium-bodied flavors blessed with ample amounts of extract and an attractive touch of minerality on the seriously long and ever-so-mildly austere finish. A knockout at this level.'

Today we will be looking into one of our boldest and most interesting wines, the fantastic Christian Moueix Pomerol 2010.

Half @ £10.95 - Buy it here!
Bottle @ £21.95 - Buy it here!
Magnum @ £45.95 - Buy it here!

The mostly small-sized producers in this area of about 7.60 km2 (2.93 sq mi) produce red wines. As in the neighbouring appellation of Saint-Émilion, the predominant grape variety is Merlot, often with Cabernet Franc and smaller quantities of Cabernet Sauvignon. Unlike other Bordeaux regions, Pomerol has no official wine ranking or classification.

However, wines like Château Pétrus and Château Le Pin are priced as high as the classified first growths of the Pauillac and Saint-Émilion such as Château Ausone and Château Cheval Blanc.

The next-door and slightly larger "satellite" appellation of Lalande-de-Pomerol produces similar wines which are shorter-lived and less expensive.

There are but a few producers in the whole of France that you could call synonymous with Pomerol name. The Moueix family own and look after one of the most incredible estates in the world and their impact upon the reputation of this right-bank commune is second to none.

This stunning merlot-dominated blend draws you in with gorgeous notes of violets, coffe, spice and liquorice. A wonderfully long and savoury finish with excellent tannic structure and acidity makes this one fantastic at any time of day, but better with a sunday roast!

A SEASHELL IN A GLASS

Surely Chablis is one of the greatest expressions of chardonnay in the world !

Chablis is keenly influenced by its soil from an ancient region that was a seabed some 150 million years ago. The result is a wine characterized by citrus and white flower aromas with dry, lean, light-bodied flavors of citrus, pear, flint-like minerality and high-acidity.

A perfect wine to be chilled in case of warm and hot days. It can be enjoyed on itself or paired with light meats, fish, shellfish, seafood and salad. Basically it covers the full spectrum of summer foods !

Today we suggest you a selection of Chablis available on our shelves. The prices are incredibly affordable and the wine ... what to say? Fantastique !

Let's start with the big format always handy in case of informal parties or special occasion !

Domaine Billaud-Simon, Chablis "Tete d'Or", 2010 £57.95

'Complex and multifaceted bouquet of wine is woven from pure flavors of lemon, grapefruit, pears, peaches and grapes with interweaving notes of flowers, vanilla and herbs.'

Domaine des Malandes, Chablis vielles vignes, tour du roy , 2010 £39.95

'Pure, crystalline with a touch of oak mellow in a rich and ripe structure.'

The following two bottles comes from the same producer … Nicolas Potel. His hallmark is to make wines which respect both their vineyard provenance and the style of the vintage while remaining attractively priced.

The two wines we suggest you today are :

Petit Chablis, 2012 £11.95

'Crystalline appearance , with a colour of rye straw, this dry white wine develops aromas of white blossom mingled with citrus notes over a mineral base.'

Chablis 1er Cru, le Montmains, 2012 £18.95

'Straightforward. The immediate impression is quite lively followed by a rush of aromas such as grapefruit and orange peel. A light honey and spice touch is reminiscent of ginger.'

Today we want to suggest you a great wine!!

At just £23.95 per normal size bottle and £47,95 per Magnum (1,5 l.) this is a real bargain, ideal for all sort of summer meals. A light to medium bodied Pinot Noir coming straight from the homeland of this varietal … We're obviously talking about Burgundy.

100% Pinot Noir, aged in French oak for 14 months this is an exquisite example of a traditional Burgundian Pinot Noir crafted by one of the biggest and best known producers.
Domaine Faiveley remain family owned and have one of the largest vineyard holdings in Burgundy - a total of 120 hectares including 75 in Côte Châlonnaise.

In the Châlonnaise region, just south of the main Côte d’Or, with the same limestone soils, they produce this beautiful Pinot noir from the vineyards of a village called Mercurey.
Wines produced from this appellation can be light and austere, but the best examples have subtle richness and can age very well. La Framboisière is a 11 hectares parcel entirely owned by Faiveley, to the south of the village.

Here they produce the grapes that made this excellent wine.
When you open it you quickly notice that it has a really fruity powerful nose, which mixes greedy red and black fruit aromas and woody notes. But it is on the palate that it shows its full potential, where it is powerful and fleshy with flavours of raspberry and other very ripe red fruits, almost as if we were biting into them. Its structure is powerful, with velvety tannins and a very long and fruity finish.

The wine can be easily paired with fairly aged cheeses and cold meats. You can also successfully pair it with rich poultry casseroles and light game dishes as quail. The bravest will match it with salmon or sea trout … excellent!

Don't miss this great opportunity! Come and get it at the shop or order it here!

Cheers !
