How about another one? There are so many amazing new wines pouring into the shop that it's almost impossible to keep up! This one is a St. Emilion Grand Cru... From the plateau of Saint-Julien, one can spot Château Talbot in the distance in the midst of an ocean of vines, parks and tall trees.
The estate has a rich history. Its name originates with Connétable Talbot, Earl of Shrewsbury, governor of Guyenne as well as being a famous English military commander, who was defeated at the battle of Castillon in 1453.
In 1855, at the time of the Médoc and Graves growth classifications ordered by Emperor Napoleon III, Château Talbot was promoted as a fourth classified growth of Saint-Julien. For several decades it belonged to the Marquis of Aux and was the purchased in 1918 by Désiré Cordier.

"The 2006 Talbot is a more seductive, possibly sexier wine than the 2005, which is seemingly more reserved in that top-notch vintage. The 2006 exhibits sweet, olive-tinged black cherry and currant fruit, soft tannin, a heady attack, good freshness and acidity, and a lush, fleshy finish. It will drink beautifully in 4-6 years, and last for two decades". 89-91 points. Robert Parker

Guillaume Drouin is a quali ed oenologist and agronomist. After acquiring experience in the elds of wine-making and rum he joined the family business in 2004. Working with his father on the aging of calvados, he took part in the creation of the company's great blends while looking for new product ranges that would highlight original aromatic associations.
Guillaume is a man full of curiosity and enthusiasm. His passion for the world of avours, tasting and the art of blending soon led him towards a new creation, that of a Gin based on the apples from his orchards. Thanks to its method of production and the number of aromatic substances that compose it, this Gin is without any doubt the spirit that offers the broadest possible spectre of composition: an almost in nite eld for creativity, a challenge both rich and fascinating in the search for symbiosis between apples, juniper and aromatics of world-wide origin.

Le Gin de Christian Drouin the only Gin incorporating 30 apple varieties. Rose and lemon provide delicacy. Ginger, vanilla, cinnamon and almond give the Gin a smooth, spicy body while cardamom enhances its fruit and roundness in the mouth. Juniper and apple complement one another with their heavy and high notes, spicy and crisp.
As they only produce just under 3000 bottles a year this one will disappear pretty suddenly so if you're a gin lover don't miss your chance to get one of these!

The story of Monkey 47 begins in the 1940s. In July 1945, to be precise! Wing Commander Montgomery “Monty” Collins of the Royal Air Force was posted to the British sector of divided Berlin. Having arrived in Berlin after the end of the war and taken up his post in the administration of the British sector, Commander Collins was profoundly affected by the extent of the destruction of the capital and so resolved to support the reconstruction of Germany in his free time. Henceforth he became devoted to the rebuilding of the Berlin Zoo, through which he came to sponsor an egret monkey by the name of Max.
Montgomery Collins left the Royal Air Force in 1951. Driven by his desire to learn the art of watch making, Collins moved to the Northern Black Forest region. Unfortunately he showed little talent in the field of horology, so instead opened a country guesthouse, naming it “The Wild Monkey” in honour of Max.
The Black Forest area has always been known for distilling fruit liqueurs. Collins combined this history with his interest in gin and what he created – Schwarzwald Dry Gin – became the trademark spirit for the guesthouse until the 1970s. Almost four decades later, in 2006, this story was rediscovered by Alexander Stein, who just so happened to descend from a family of distillers…

The nose instantly offers up woody, vegetable smells under pin fresh grassy citrus notes and botanical sweetness, like a pine forest after the rain. On the palate it is predictably complex, this is a robust and powerful gin with plenty of spice, fruit and herb flavours. It's very well structured, and difficult to unpick but a citrus fresh start segues into pine and wood notes for a drying and heavy finish. A unique gin, that is crying out to be made into a Martini. It'll need an equally robust vermouth though.
We waited so long for this to be available to us so come and get it! This stuff is truly exceptional.

Another new one for you! We really treat you don't we! This one is from Roussillon and is Biodynamic so expect something amazing!
Domaine Cazes is situated in Rivesaltes in the Roussillon. With 220 hectares of vines planted, Domaine Cazes is the largest certified organic and biodynamic estate in France. It was founded in 1895 by Michel Cazes and the wines are made by the fourth generation of winemakers, headed up by Emmanuel Cazes. The family makes a range of interesting dry wines alongside the regional specialities, Vin Doux Naturels. They took the decision to move to organic and biodynamic viticulture in 1997. Based on their view that the natural environment needs natural preparation, they plough the soils and use only natural ingredients as treatments, arranging their work according to the lunar calendar.

Deep ruby red in colour with aromas of ripe red and black berry fruit. The palate combines juicy redcurrants, raspberries and cherries with a hint of spice. An easy drinking wine, the velvety tannins are in perfect balance and the finish is rounded and long.
A fantastic price for something so bloody amazing. This staff favourite will be going at a scary rate (well, for our wallets anyway) so come and get some before it all disappears!

It's that time of the week where we talk about one of our brand new wines. This time we have one of the most amazing producers in Australia...
One of the original McLaren Vale pioneers, Thomas Goss (1810-1890), his wife Mary Ann (1813-1891) and their children arrived in South Australia from Devonshire in 1849. After success in the Victorian gold fields he established an iconic farming property, Ingleburne, now home to some of the McLaren Vale region's leading vineyards.
In 2010, to celebrate the 200th anniversary of his birth, it was decided to release a range of affordable McLaren Vale red wines and Adelaide Hills white wines under the Thomas Goss label. These wines are a tribute to the persistence of Thomas Goss and his family's long contribution to our beloved region.

Light yellow. Spicy pear and green apple scents show very good clarity and a zesty mineral topnote. Juicy and precise on the palate, offering lively citrus and orchard fruit flavors with a touch of honeysuckle. Closes dry and long, with excellent clarity and building spiciness

This one is an absolute gem. Brand new into the shop and something that we think everyone should have a go with...
This is one of the most exciting wineries to come out of Sardinia in two decades. It is the brainchild of Gavino Sanna, a Sardinian who has lived in Milan for the past 50 years, where he built up one of Italy's most successful advertising agencies. On a whim, he decided to sell the agency and seek new challenges. One of these challenges was the creation of a winery in Sulcis in southwestern Sardinia. As might be expected from someone with Sanna's background, the labels are striking. He has also ensured that the contents are equally striking. Stefano Cova, a young winemaker from Trentino, took over with the 2008 vintage, improving on an already high level of quality.
The grapes are grown in the Sulcis area on the south-western tip of Sardinia. The climate here is Mediterranean with low rainfall, frequent north-westerly winds, high temperatures in spring and summer, a mild autumn and winter which vary from dry and cold through to relatively mild. Soils are medium textured, naturally sandy and chalky-clay, with a rocky, schistous character. Moderate nutrient levels and good levels of minerals add a distinctive character to the resulting wines. The vines are trained using the espalier method and spur-cordon pruned with yields around 45 hectolitres per hectare.

Straw yellow with hints of gold and green. The complex bouquet releases subtle notes of lime blossom, yellow peach and apricot, and zesty grapefruit. The palate is crisp and delicious, perfectly echoing the aromatics on the nose, with tangy fruit and a long-lasting, mineral finish
