There is a honeyed note to the stone fruit aromas in this wine, with peach and nectarine, but overlaid by soft cashew and delicate herbs and spices. It is a full bodied, dry and textured wine that is delicious with roast chicken

This is a soft, silky style of Saint-Emilion, made by Englishman Jonathan Maltus. It has good plummy fruit, plenty of weight mid-palate, and an easy-going, positive finish. It is a wine designed to drink young.

Les Hauts de Smith offers ripe black plum and blackberry on the nose, hints of sous-bois in the background. The palate is very smooth and rounded on the entry. This is a wine whose texture, even at this early juncture, is utterly seductive, building nicely to a sensual finish spiced up with cloves and cracked black pepper. This will be delicious.

The 2015 Ségla reveals baked cherries, hoisin and light cedar aromas on the nose, which is tightly wound at first but gains intensity with aeration. The oak is neatly integrated. The very well-balanced, medium-bodied palate features firm tannin, commendable purity, smooth texture and just a touch of white pepper and graphite toward the persistent finish. This is a classy Margaux to add to many others.

A blend of 50% merlot and 50% cabernet sauvignon. Dense deep red colour with a nose that is full of smooth, rich red berries and black fruit - cherry, blueberry and blackberries. The palate is wonderful with a full body and weight to it, while incorporating gorgeous softened tannins after time in bottle. The style is clean with structure and a classic Médoc feel. There are very subtle chocolate and toasty toffee notes from the oak along with a gorgeous lengthy finish. A terrific high-quality claret at a great price.

Made from 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, it has a dark inky colour with a delicious Port-like nose of intense, rich, dark fruit. This is a sensuous wine with sweet, creamy forest fruits and earthy, floral and chocolate overtones. The tannins are big and ripe, completelely subsumed within the enormous fruit and long finish.

A round and velvety second wine from Léoville Barton with currants, minerals and sandalwood. Medium to full body, ultra-fine tannins and a vivid finish.

A pale gold in colour with green highlights. The bouquet shows discreet and delicate aromas of white peach and apricots. The palate is more pronounced, rich in minerals, with hints of citrus fruits and hazelnuts, accentuated by subtle toasted notes on a long and crisp finish.
