satisfies on so many levels! Perfectly mature, full and savoury, complex with layers of flavour, great length, a really serious wine, something you could get out at a dinner party and get looks of jealousy. If everyone in Beaujolais could do this, the guys to their north and south might just get a little worried!
An airy and cool but ripe nose presents notes of hazelnut, essence of pear and white peach along with background nuances of citrus peel. There is more volume though less minerality to the delicious and generously proportioned middle weight flavors that possess a seductive texture, all wrapped in a balanced, vibrant and solidly persistent finish. This lovely effort will likely require most of a decade to arrive at its full apogee.
From vines located at the top of the slope in Prémeaux, Felettig's 2018 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Terres Blanches is a blend of Chardonnay with 20% Pinot Blanc and saw 30% new oak. It has turned out well, wafting from the glass with scents of citrus oil, pear, white flowers and a light patina from its time in wood, followed by a medium to full-bodied, satiny and textural palate that's racy and precise, concluding with a saline finish.
Almond and hazelnut roasted in a vegetal, floral and mineral environment. Butter, honey, citrus fruits also solicit the nose. On the palate, a rich and fat wine, with a nutty and delicious flavor: the balance between unctuous and freshness. Long & structured.
Wow… such an enticing nose of green apple and exotic fruit with a dusting of toasted oak spice that begs you to take a sip! Wonderful structure and balance throughout - this is very refined and serious Puligny-Montrachet where everything is well married and harmonious. Compelling.
A rich color, purple and with ruby highlights. On the nose, the bouquet opens on a basket of red and black berries (strawberry, cherry, blackcurrant, blueberry). Very lively on the palate, structured, the back supple and round. Volume, flesh.
Bright gold colour. Aromas of exotic fruit, mixed with toasty notes and
honey. Beautiful minerality. Complex, deep and voluminous. Beautiful fruit
combination. Harmonious. Well-integrated minerality. Delicate oak-note. Long and generous aftertaste
This is very detailed, displaying touches of graphite filtering through the black fruit. The palate is very well balanced with a fine line of acidity. There is a sense of symmetry toward the finish that is compelling.
A brilliant cherry red, with aromas of red fruits with a slightly peppery note. The fullness and roundness make these wines a pleasure. Ideal with lighter weight dishes be they fish, fowl, four-legged or vegetarian.
On the nose, one has the impression of being under the cherry tree when a breeze of freshness blows. In the mouth, it is the fond side of this Pinot Noir that seduces the taste buds, with an attack on the roundness of the fruit and a rather lively finish. A supple and crunchy “pleasure wine”.
Vincent categorises the vines for this fine cuvée into three groups: his younger vines under 30 years which give 30% of the cuvée, the next 30% from 30 year old vines, and the final 40% from aged vines between 40-60 years. A gorgeous combination of exuberance and charm, with clotted cream and hazelnut flavours. Very layered, this wine is full of confidence.
The Roy family have been vignerons in the village of Fontenay, just to the North of Chablis, for over 200 years. Their 2017 Vieilles Vignes has great leafy citrus note, ripe green apple, pithy texture with strident acidity and excellent definition. Lovely creamy notes to finish.
Beautiful bright golden colour. The smell reveals aromas of ripe yellow fruits, with notes of lime and fern... On the palate, the wine is pure, fresh, with a long after taste and a well marked minerality.
A wine full of charm! The colour is a beautiful white gold, with a ravishing purity and brilliance. The aromas are fresh and fruity, with nuances of broom shrub (genêt), almond and delicious preserved citrus notes. On the palate, it is fresh and elegant. A long and delicious aftertaste makes for a lasting impression
Beautiful bright ruby-red colour. Aromas of puréed raspberry, gooseberry, red currant, blackberry. With ageing, the aromas evolve towards riper notes of syrup, then tobacco and wet undergrowth. Pretty and refined on the nose. The flavours belong to those of a great Burgundy. Fresh, velvety texture ("gras"), elegant tannins, well meshed when the wine is mature. Long, refined aftertaste, with some touches of fruit jam.
The 2018 Meursault Narvaux comes from a single hectare of vines. It has a classy, well-defined bouquet of yellow flowers, Japanese yuzu and lemon thyme aromas that gain intensity with aeration. The palate is balanced, delivering honeyed fruit laced with orange peel and pineapple chunks but missing some tension and acidity on the finish
Samuel’s Montée de Tonnerre is a blend of two parcels, one of which lies alongside that of Raveneau’s. Light peachy scent with a precise and sizzling length of taut chalky acidity. The creaminess of the year’s fruit comes through nicely on the finish.
Blanc de Noir style, made from more than 80% Pinot Noir. Hand-harvested in openwork crates, it is then fermented on selected yeasts in temperature-controlled stainless-steel and with some 10% of the harvest fermented 6 months in old French oak barrels. It is then aged on fine lees in bottle for two years. Dosage approx. 7-8 grams/L. A lively, soulful and very Champagne-like blend with aromas and flavor of honey, butter, lemon zest, white pepper.
A minerally and rounded Sauvignon Blanc from the small area of Saint-Bris, near Chablis, made by top Chablis producer William Fevre. A light and fresh wine that has a pleasingly smoothness on the palate. Perfect with salads, seafood and grilled white meat
