It's finally here. Our first ever Prosecco Superiore! And it truly is something to behold. Let's have a look into its history before we find out how it tastes, shall we?
The life of The Giavi farm started as early as 900 AD and has been making Prosecco since 1914. Now owned by the Zuanetti Cuscito family and covers an area of around 12 hectares on a hill overlooking the town of Conegliano, a hill which was often sat on for hours on end by Cima da Conegliano, a famous italian painter who's work hangs in major museums around the world.
Marco Cuscito worked tirelessly renovating the vineyards, and replanting the vines for Prosecco Superiore DOCG. With only 12 ha of vineyards, careful pruning each year, 60% of the harvest is done by hand, and only estate grown grapes used, the quality of the resulting wine is high, making these very much boutique wines.
Considerable thought has been given to wine grape growing by recent re-planting of Prosecco Superior DOCG as well as Rosso dei Colli di Conegliano vines, both registered under the relevant DOCG and DOC regulations
Giavi Conegliano Valdobbiadene DOCG Prosecco Superiore Brut NV @ £16.95 - Buy it here!
Fragrant with aromas of green apple and pear enriched by delicate floral notes. On the palate it is balanced and round with a very pleasant acidity. Creamy and elegant perlage with long aftertaste.
This is our new favourite and here it will stay! Cheers!

A personal favourite of mine here! I love New Zealand Pinot noir so it's about time a new one showed up. A gorgeous example from Wanaka Road made by the famous Mount Edward Winery.
Founded in 1997, the winery was originally started as a small personal project, a very traditional style of winery producing Pinot Noir and Riesling. They have morphed into completely different growers over the last 2O years, driven by a desire to be progressive and individual. Organically run, with each and every wine wanting to be a pleasure to drink.
Their heart is all about Pinot Noir, making wines that are just delicious – textural, subtle, moreish wines – each different from the next, each unique to their place and our style. These guys grow and make a variety of other wines to keep the head happy, everything from Pet Nat to Orange to Gamay to Chardonnay – and they even have the odd Riesling for the dedicated amongst us.
Wanaka Road Central Otago Pinot Noir 2015 @ £20.95 - Buy it here!
Aromas of dark berry fruits, spice, savoury tones and thyme. A sinewy palate full of bright fruit flavours with a delicate herbal thread throughout.
Truly gorgeous. This hits the spot dead on if you love a big pinot noir! Cheers!

A brand new one for you today! And this is something a little on the special side. We've stocked Castello Vicchiomaggio since we opened but now we have a couple of new beauties available from these amazing creators.
Castello Vicchiomaggio is also a well-known producer of internationally renowned wines. Wine has always been produced at the Castle and its owners, John and Paola Matta, dedicate their lives to preserving this centuries-old tradition.
Among the cultivated varieties: the most prominent vine is Sangiovese, which is the fundamental grape for Chianti Classico, but there are also other indigenous grapes such as Canaiolo and Colorino, as well as two international varieties which are Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The latter are in particular demand for the production of their famous IGT-certified red wines.
Castello Vicchiomaggio La Prima Gran Selezione 2014 @ £39.95 - Buy it here!
This gorgeous wine is a fine, full-bodied concentrated juice, with flavours of ripe red fruits, smoke and toast, spice and herbs. Two years on oak have made this smooth and soft on the palate but with some real dedication and skill put into the finish.
Honestly it has been a long time coming but now is your chance to try some of the better things that Castello Vicchiomaggio has to offer. Cheers!

Port is something we are very interested in. Since we opened we've had a great selection of vintage ports and now we're expanding into things like this. 40 years old and nothing to be scoffed at!
The story of two families across three centuries. For almost two hundred years W & J Graham’s has been an independent family business renowned for producing the finest Port wines.
Graham’s has always been a pioneer. Graham's was one of the first Port companies to invest in its own vineyards in Portugal’s Douro Valley in 1890 and is now at the cutting edge of innovation in winemaking techniques. Today, five Symington cousins share responsibility for every aspect of the company and personally make the Graham’s wines. They too have been involved with Port and the Douro for many generations, with ancestry dating back to the mid-17th century.
Graham's 40 Years Old Tawny Port @ £99.95 - Buy it here!
Graham’s 40 Year Old Tawny shows a light, orange-tinted amber colour. Magnificent nose showing an array of dried fruits. A matured, concentrated palate with full honeyed fruit. Gorgeously mellow, with an amazing, long finish.
Honestly one of the best ports I've ever tried and it's box is pretty fancy too. Cheers!

It's been a little while since we discussed Pellegrino but honestly it should be everyday with the wonders these guys produce. Let's have a read shall we?
In 1880, Cantine Pellegrino was established by Paolo Pellegrino, a wine grower in Marsala, located on the northwest coast of Sicily. Today, this family-owned company is the region’s leader, with over 300 hectares of vineyards and a range of Marsala DOC, Pantelleria Passito and Moscato wines. Wine has been made here for thousands of years, yet the British bolstered the success of Marsala as a wine capital. Instrumental in developing fortified wines from Portugal’s Oporto and Spain’s Jerez, the firm sought similar products elsewhere.
In 1773, English trader John Woodhouse stopped in Marsala and was charmed by the local wine. Thus began the production of the fortified wine, Marsala. All Pellegrino wines are produced with indigenous grapes brought by the earliest settlers and which are rarely seen in other regions. This area’s low rainfall, hot temperatures and dry winds make chemical treatments unnecessary.
Cantine Pellegrino "Il Salinaro" Grillo 2017 @ £13.95 - Buy it here!
Fine scents of citrus fruits blend with strong floral notes of jasmine and orange blossoms. On the palate, this wine is fresh and balanced, with notes of grapefruit, citron and lemon, softened by hints of vanilla.
We are honestly astounded by how good this stuff is. Come in and grab a couple! Cheers!
