Today we have a special wine to show you. Its one of our staff's absolute favourites and for very good reason: its bloody amazing.
One of the main protagonists in the renaissance of Southern Italian wines, Feudi di San Gregorio has carved out a reputation for making truly world-class wines in less than 30 years. The company began in the mid 1980s with the aim of safeguarding local traditions and unlocking the potential of key indigenous grapes such as Fiano, Greco, Falanghina and Aglianico.
2013 is considered to be a more classic vintage, as the harvest took place later than in recent years. The season was marked by a cool, wet spring, followed by cool weather during the early summer. Warm, dry weather during the latter part of the summer encouraged the ripening and maturation of the berries. The resulting wines are fresh and elegant.
Feudi di San Gregorio 'Taurasi' 2013 @ £22.95 - Buy it here!
Fragrant aromas of maraschino cherry, cinnamon and nutmeg are complemented by undertones of vanilla and anise. Full of juicy black fruit flavours, the palate is full bodied and well balanced with sweet, soft tannins with an aromatic, persistent finish.
Does that description not make you want to run here and take it all home? It's so good you wont believe it.
Cheers!

This one heralds the release of a new country in our shop. We have never had a wine from Lebanon. Now is our time and now is your time to try one!
Château Ksara is Lebanon's oldest winery. Its traditions can be traced back to 1857 when a group of Jesuit monks acquired the property. The Jesuits applied their knowledge of science and agriculture to plant French vines as well as developing two kilometres of Roman caves that proved ideal for the storage of wine. The Jesuits sold the winery to its current owners in 1973. Ksara is now the most modern winery in the region as well as the largest producer in the country. Their annual production is over 2.8 million bottles and they sell their wines in more than 40 countries worldwide.
Chateau Ksara Reserve du Couvent 2016 @ £12.95 - Buy it here!

It's such a great addition to the shop, come and give it a go. Cheers!

Yet another new one for you today. We've gone a little mad with changing our range. A big aussie red is our wine of the day!
Lake Breeze is located in Langhorne Creek, South Australia, where the Follett family has been farming grapes since the 1880s. The estate is situated on the banks of Lake Alexandrina and the vineyard benefits from the 'lake breeze'. Winemaker Greg Follett was brought up on the farm but left to study winemaking at Roseworthy before heading to make wine in California and France. He returned to his roots and in 1987 started making wine exclusively from the best 30 per cent of his old vine fruit. He rapidly built an enviable reputation for consistently producing outstanding wines and Lake Breeze is now one of the most awarded boutique wineries in Australia.
Lake Breeze 'Bernoota' Cabernet Shiraz 2015 @ £18.95 - Buy it here!
A rich wine, voluptuous and juicy, with aromas of blackberries and plums, layered with chocolate mint and smoky oak. The palate encompasses all of the trademark Langhorne Creek fruit sweetness and soft tannins. A definitive example of this classic blend.
Honestly one of our current favourites with it's big, smoky style. Cheers!

Back to a producer that we have had since our beginning but not this wine. This time we look into a brand new addition to the shop which is familiar but new. Let's learn a bit more.
Torbreck was established in 1994 and is located at Marananga on the western ridge of the Barossa Valley. It is named after a forest situated just south of Inverness in the Highlands of Scotland. Founded by David Powell, a former lumberjack who worked in various vineyards to hone his oenological skills, Torbreck’s first releases in 1997 of a 1995 Runrig (Shiraz/Viognier) and 1996 The Steading (Grenache/Mataro/Shiraz) were greeted with rapturous applause by critics and connoisseurs alike. The winery is overseen by Senior Winemaker Craig Isbel and his team.
The overwhelming majority of his vines are dry-grown, nearly all are 100 - 165 years old and are tended and harvested by hand. The wines have an extraordinary combination of power, intensity, complexity and great finesse.
Torbreck 'Cuvee Juveniles' Barossa Valley GSM 2015 @ £19.95 - Buy it here!
Bold and seductive, this unoaked Grenache, Mataro and Shiraz blend is youthful. A lively, vibrant aroma of blackberry, violet and spice. It has a full, rich mid palate with a vivacity and energy that this blend always generates. Ripe, savoury flavours of dark berry fruit and cassis, spiced cherries, minerals and succulent blueberry fruit all balanced with fresh acidity and a fine gentle tannin structure.
Absolute dream material here! Come and get it. Cheers!

Our first ever Cava! It's been a long time coming with a tonne of people asking for it. They aren't easy to find, you know! A good cava is worth its weight in gold... such as this!
Carlos Sumarroca is one of Spain’s most important and awarded agriculturists and together with his wife Nuria the enterprising couple set about establishing Sumarroca as the largest estate grown Cava producers in Spain. They practice sustainable farming, harvest at night, and only use free-run juice. Combining their passion for the land and tenacity in cultivating vines, their Cavas have bags of personality and character.
The land of the Sumarroca estate is poor, chalky and gravelly. The influence of the sea is diminished by the Garraf mountains which dry out the sea winds, while the pre-coastal mountain range protects the estate against dry winds from inland. These conditions produce highly elegant wines with a balanced, very fresh fruitiness. The Sabartés estate is located in the southernmost part of the Penedès region. The soil has a higher clay content with a loose texture. The estate is strongly influenced by the sea, being just a few kilometres from the coast. This Mediterranean character gives the base wine a fruitier tone.
Bodegas Sumarroca, Cava Brut Nature Gran Reserva 2014 @ £14.95 - Buy it here!
Pale yellow colour. Fresh, complex aroma that mixes pastry notes from the cava’s 36-month aging with light hints of fresh fruit from the base wine. Fresh and smooth on the palate, with very fine bubbles that perfectly complement the wine's complexity. An elegant, serious finish, long and dry, bringing out the essential flavour of the cava.
You will not be disappointed by this I can assure you! Cheers!

This flow of new bottles is just astounding. So many new and interesting styles to try! Such as this beauty. Let's find out a little more.
The lands of the Gigondas appellation are at the very heart of the Rhone Valley, just below the rocky hills of the Dentelles de Montmirail, spreading throughout terraced vineyards, producing superior wines with high ageing potential. For over 2000 years, wines of the region have provided for man’s livelihood.
Joel SAUREL is the youngest of 7 children in a great family of winegrowers. He was raised amongst the scents of soil and an ancestral know-how that combines both tradition and new farming technologies. Saurel is deeply attached to the land, believing that soil is the only true master of a wine, and has thus followed the principles of Integrated Farming production since 1996. The soil is kept alive through careful ploughing and organic fertilizers; everything is sought to bring forth the natural qualities of the soil.
