Welcome back! We hope your weekend was as lovely and winey as it should have been. Another new one for you today, the Montes Alpha Pinot Noir...
Montes was established in 1988 by Aurelio Montes, Douglas Murray, Alfredo Vidaurre and Pedro Grand, with the aim to produce the best wines in Chile from the best regions. We have long admired Montes and what they have done for Chilean wine over the past three decades. The Montes Alpha Cabernet Sauvignon, first produced in 1987, broke the mould for premium wines in Chile. Since then, Alpha has gone from being a wine to being the core range in the Montes portfolio. The grapes and sites are carefully selected in order to ensure varietal integrity and complexity . Viticulture is hands on and individual rather than mechanical and industrial. The result is a range of wines that offer superb value within the premium wine market - whether from Chile or anywhere else.
Montes Alpha Aconcagua Pinot Noir @ £13.95 - Buy it here!
Bright ruby red colour. The nose presents aromas of ripe cherries and raspberries, white pepper and a touch of violets. Medium-bodied, the palate has silky, smooth tannins, fresh and vibrant acidity, and shows well-integrated French oak. The long and perfumed finish is smooth and elegant.
A few of these available to buy but due to its screwcap we are unable to taste it! Either way, it's an absolute beauty so definitely worth a shot.

Yesterday we had a little look into what would be a great accompaniment to a lovely meal on New Years Eve. What if that's not your style? What if Prosecco is your style? We have a couple for you...
FROM LEFT
Ca' di Alte Prosecco Spumante Extra dry NV @ £13.95 - Buy it here!
Light straw yellow with fine bubbles. A pleasant bouquet with notes of pear and floral hints is followed by a very bright, clean and lifted, palate. Very dry, with lingering freshness.
Rive della Chiesa Prosecco Frizzante NV @ £9.99 - Buy it here!
This brilliant, light straw-yellow prosecco begins with a soft and persistent froth. Notes of golden apple, peach and other white fruits. With a slightly sweet taste it is an excellent match for desserts or aperitifs.
Thomson and Scott Skinny Prosecco NV @ £17.95 - Buy it here!
This gorgeous Prosecco manages to drop their sugar content down by a good margin. This leaves the wine with an incredibly dry style which is light and refreshing with floral and apple aromas on the nose. The palate is fresh, lively, and fruity with great acidity and notes of green apple, golden apple, honeydew melon and pear.
All of these will blow you out of the water on your big night. Come and grab a couple and have a fantastic New Year.

Now this is something that not many of our customers will have tried in their lives but should be on everyone's bucket list. A great sake is a truly amazing this to behold. But finding a really outstanding sake is no small task. But, as ever, we have undertaken this task and have come up with these... Sakes have been made by the family-owned Tosa brewery since 1877. It is currently run by Muneki Matusmoto (of the sixth generation) who still uses the original brewery 138 years later. It is situated in the beautiful mountainous region called Tosa Ryohoku in the Kochi prefecture. The name of their range, ‘Keigetsu’, is a Japanese term which describes the beautiful evening scene created when the moon hangs over Katsurahama shore.
Keigetsu Tokubetsu Junmai Sake @ £25.95
The ‘Aikawahomare’ Tokubetsu Junmai is made from Hinohikari rice from the Aikawa region polished to 60%. The nose leads with honeydew melon and sweet chestnut paste. The palate is round and silky with yellow peach on the finish, and is true to its ‘tokubetsu’ (‘special’) designation
Keigetsu Junmai Daiginjo Sake @ £30.95
The Junmai Daiginjo is made from Gin no Yume rice with a 45% polish. It has soft and delicate aromas of lychee and rose which continue onto the palate. It is dry but wonderfully balanced and has great purity on the finish.
Don't expect these to be here forever. A couple of customers have already vouched for their quality and won't stop coming back!
