We journey today to the North-East of France and within this area we stop in Alsace, a part of France that is heavily influenced by their German neighbours!

This is a gorgeous one. Pure varietal flavours that really show off what Riesling is all about. Very dry with an interesting minerality which is hard to ignore. An absolute beauty with seafood of almost any kind! £15.45 a bottle too!


Today we travel from Bordeaux to the Rhone Valley. The Rhone Valley is split into two - north and south. The North is well known for its beautiful Syrah wines and the south is famous for Chateauneuf du Pape.

This Syrah from northern Rhone is utterly quaffable. It's well balanced, fruity and has very smooth tannins so drinks well on its own as well as with food. If you are eating, how about trying it with a wintry casserole to match the weather forecast?!


Today we travel from Burgundy to Bordeaux in the West. Bordeaux is the largest wine growing area in France producing mostly red blends which we English sometimes call 'Claret'. The notable exception is an area called Sauternes in the south of the region which produces exquisite sweet white wines.
